Short post today. I agree with Mark Brewer’s concept of the “Stupid Tree“. I am often ashamed at the mindless behavior of the career bureaucrats in the PCUSA. I have great respect for Mark, and for his view of what is really important in the world.

Mark says, “it seems that they fell out of the stupid tree and hit every branch going down. The idea that withholding funds is going to make peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians is ridiculous,” I’m sure Mark is right. But I don’t think it is about making change, it is about making a statement. It’s about doing what’s right and what’s faithful.As a minister in the PCUSA, I will say I questioned this stand, but all in all, I think it is a bold and courageous move.
